  • A doctorate degree relevant to the field of specialty (PhD, EdD or relevant) from an accredited university.
  • Specializations in any of these areas: Learning Disabilities and Developmental Delays; Emotional and Behavior Disorders; Autism Spectrum Disorders; Gifted and Talented and Inclusive Education
  • Publication record indicating recent research in the field of specialty.
  • Appropriate teaching experience at Higher Education institution.
  • Proficiency and Command of English language.


  • A commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Supervise student teachers and Interns
  • An active research agenda based on issues and current trends in inclusive and special needs education
  • Evidence of success in or strong potential for obtaining external funding
  • Service to the College and wider community
  • A commitment to working in a multicultural environment


  • Effective classroom practitioner and associated planning, assessment and development experience
  • Curriculum development
  • Research skills, along with high quality dissemination of research output
  • Expertise in evidence based educational practices for students with special needs
  • Developing partnerships with local schools and relevant community organizations
  • Use of integrated technologies in classroom practice and research
  • Effective presentation and communication skills in English language
